Waterproof Case WP-DC5 housing 3

Fits:Powershot SD700IS, Digital Ixus 800IS

You can use this case to take underwater shots at depths of up to 40 m (130 ft.). Of course it’s also ideal for taking worry-free pictures in the rain, at the beach, or on the ski slopes.

KJaspers on pricegrabber.com wrote this about the Canon WP-DC5 Waterproof case: "I was expecting the underwater housing to be much bulkier and assumed it would probably be a little awkward underwater. It works great, however, and it is easy to use. I purchased the camera and the underwater housing at the same time because I am moving to Maui- I am sure I will have some great photos to show once I go diving and snorkeling there! I also plan to use it on the beach to protect my new camera from sand and salt and moisture. This case is awesome and I am going to get a lot of use out of it!" He considedered one weakness to be "Requires some prep and care before and after use- but this is unavoidable with an underwater housing and it's worth it. " Awarded 4 out of 5.

Maryfbcat wrote: "I bought this case for a friend after I got one for my camera. During a 1-week vacation I used it twice daily for over an hour each time. The setup is a breeze, it is easy to use, and it doesn't take any more care than I would expect for equipment that is exposed to saltwater. Before I used it I thought it was relatively expensive, and it is, compared to the cost of the camera. But it is so worth it!" Awarded 5 out of 5.

Waterproof Case WP-DC3 housing 1

Fits: Powershot SD630, Digital Ixus 65

Specifications as the WP-DC5

Features:

Reliable and easy to use, this case offers new shooting possibilities and it can help you realize the full potential of digital photography. Shooting great underwater pictures is simple. Your PowerShot camera has many features that are specially suited to the underwater environment. With the help of the WP-DC3 you can create brilliant underwater pictures at depth of up to 130 feet, even on your very first dive.

Simon Wilkes in amazon.co.uk stated: " I bought this case a couple of days ago and tested it yesterday. I used it while scuba diving, taking it to a depth of 22m in Dosthill quarry UK. The case is rated to 40m but Dosthill isn't that deep. We did 2 dives with it for a total time of around 100 minutes. I can happily report that there was not any trace of water inside the case. The case is made of polycarbonate with double glazed glass lenses and feels very sturdy. All the buttons on the IXUS 65 are available while it's in the case and although the buttons are small I had no problem operating them with diving gloves on. With the huge screen of the IXUS 65 still fully visible in the case, I had great fun taking both pictures and video, a regular Jaques Costeau. The case would also be great for keeping your camera dry while skiing but the case does increase the camera size and probably would only just fit in a ski jacket pocket.

One note of warning the case and camera together are slightly negatively buoyant, (They'll sink) so don't drop it over the side of the boat!" Awarded 5 out of 5.

NOTE: Before and after submerging a Waterproof Case in water, it's extremely important to perform basic maintenance procedures. These procedures require only a few minutes to complete, but they are essential to keeping your case secured and your camera waterproof.

Waterproof Case WP-DC4housing 2

Jewls from Scottsbluff wrote reviewed the W-DC4 waterproof case. He gave it 5 out of 5 stating:

PROS:Seals Easily, Lightweight, Easily Loaded Equipment, Strong Construction. "My friend loves his camera. He travels alot with his work and has taken many pictures. So very beautiful"

A little bit more detail form L. Holt in California had this to say about the Canon WP-DC4:"This is a fantastic product. I like the fact that it allows you to access all of the features of your Canon SD600 Digital Camera while underwater. And luckily, the Canon SD600 even has an "underwater" setting. I used this when snorkeling in Hawaii, taking still photos as well as movies. I never had any problem with leakage or fogging. And the photos and movies came out very well. The only downside is that you can't use the camera's viewfinder while it's in the case, you have to use the LCD screen.

The waterproof case was easy to use. It was easy to change the settings on the camera using the buttons and levers built into the case. Operating the camera while it's in the case feels completely natural, as easy as using the camera itself.

I like this case so much, that I would recommend buying a Canon Powershot camera just so that you can get one of these cases."

Waterproof Case WP-DC80housing 4

Fits: Powershot SD550, Digital Ixus 750

Javelina reckons that you can get fabuous underwater shots with the aid of a Powershot SD 550 and the WP-DC8. She writes: " The reason we bought this camera housing was because we wanted decent underwater shots, and were sick of disposable cameras. It is actually a great cost-effective option. On one trip to Mexico alone, we brought 3 or 4 disposable cameras, and then bought about 3 or 4 more. At $15 a pop, the cameras added up to $120!! Plus, we had to figure out a way to take the film out of the camera, because we certainly didn’t have enough room for 8 cameras in our luggage. Then, the cost of developing was over $100 – so for one trip, we spent over $220 on disposable underwater photos! Not only did we spend a fortune on underwater photos, many of them weren’t worth getting developed in the first place, so we could have saved ourselves money by picking and choosing what photos we wanted. The quality was often pretty bad, and it seems like it is only the pictures in sunny, shallow water come out.

Therefore, a camera housing will easily pay itself back in one trip. I would like to be able to go back in time and get great shots from snorkeling off Cozumel and the Mayan Riviera – it would have made a world of difference!

When we went to the Galapagos, we went snorkeling once or twice a day, for over a week. We had just a tiny bit of time to get ready each time, since we would be going from one excursion to another. It was very easy to get the camera ready and into the housing. We would then bring the camera out to our snorkeling site using a mesh snorkeling bag.

We are careful when we set up the camera, tucking the camera strap into the casing so that it does not interfere with the seal. The case is hinged on one side, with a snap on the other. There is a seal along the edge of the case where it closes. You can add the additional silicone grease to the case for added security.

We also place silica gel packets in the housing around the camera to help prevent moisture buildup and condensation. We have not had any issues with the housing fogging up. It would be nice if there was a little extra space in the housing to allow for more silica packets, but of course it would compromise the size of the case.

The LCD monitor hood works well and is a nice feature. It allows for better visibility, especially since you’re generally going to be swimming with both hands on the camera (not using one to shade the camera screen).

The camera seems about neutrally buoyant, and is not hard to control in the water. We have only used this for snorkeling, but the housing is rated to 130’, so this could be taken on some dives.

The housing is pretty easy to use, in terms of controls. One of our complaints is that the dial button for mode was easy to switch inadvertently. Sometimes we would end up taking movies by accident, as opposed to still shots. "
